Key Area 4

Leadership and Organizational Change

In the realm of athletics, athletes are constantly dealing with the 'adversity' that comes their way such as losing seasons and injuries.  They also have to transition between different sport seasons, different team members and different coaches.  How these athletes deal with these adversities and transitions will affect the outcome of their season.  This key area has taught me the importance of 'adversity' as we dealing with changes in our organization.  The more knowledge my co-workers acquire in understanding the stages of transition, the more capable they will be in handling adversity when it comes their way.  This key area has also helped me realize the necessity of organizations forming communities of practice to enhance the collaboration between co-workers.  In completing this TET Program I feel as though I have advanced myself as a "co-captain" in leading my colleagues through the organizational changes that are necessary to begin implementing technology in their classroom.

Personal Transitional Paper: Personal transitions are constantly occurring in the lives of people everyday.  This paper depicts one of my personal transitions that I went through when my mom was diagnosed with cancer.

Organizational Transition Plan: Transitions are commonplace in all organizations.  This plan tells about the transitions that my colleagues and I had to go through each time our school hired a new principal.

Change Journey Map: My change journey map shows the stages of transition and what my emotional feelings were at each stage as I transitioned from teaching first grade to third grade.

Knowledge Management Plan: The way organizations manage their knowledge will determine the outcome of their success.  This is a plan on how to guide teachers in my school to begin to implement technology in their classroom.

"Education comes from living life,
following passions, accessing information,
observing, reflecting and being inspired
by wise and courageous elders in the community."
